Update on the peanut
Regan had an appointment with a pediatric GI from CHOC on Wed. We loved him. He upped her dose of Zantac and put her on a low dose of Erythromycin to help her reflux. Her reflux seemed a little better until the day of her appointment when she threw up 4 of her feedings. No spitting for her. All projectile vomiting. Danny had a work banquet that day and came to her appointment in slacks and a dress shirt and she soaked him from shoulders to waist. The smell of Nutramigen formula smells SO BAD! Poor guy was stuck in his vomit covered clothes for a few hours. Separate issue is her cows milk allergy. He took us off Nutramigen and put her on Ele Care. It's a prescription formula and it's amino acid based rather than dairy. When the Dr. told Danny a 14 oz. can that lasts 3 days is $40 + tax and shipping (since you can't buy it in the store) I thought he would pass out. He told us our insurance would not pay for it unless Regan was feeding tube dependant. I asked him to write a prescription for it anyway so I could fight our insurance, since I'm really good at that. The following day she continued to have vomiting and diarrhea. Also didn't want to eat. She ate 10 ozs. all day. I called our insurance and asked to speak with a nurse care manager. I explained that we couldn't afford it and it was going to cost them more $ in the long run from all of the problems she will have as a result of not getting proper nutrition and this formula is our last resort. (We would have found a way to pay for it, that was just my argument) They agreed to cover a can for a $25 copay. Not cheap but still a savings. I called CVS and asked them to call the insurance and get an over ride from 1 can to 3 cans. So it would last for a week. CVS called me back and got them to cover 6 cans. Then a few hours later CVS called back to tell me she called the insurance to fight with them that Regan needed a month worth of formula, not 2 weeks worth. They agreed to it. So now we pay a $25 copay for an entire month of formula rather than $600 a month. I sent the "angel" at CVS flowers the following day. Talk about great customer service. I knew how to deal with the insurance and have the pharmacy help you with over rides since I had this same problem with my meds. My Zofan was $105 a day while pregnant and the pharmacy helped me get the insurance to cover it. So from Thursday until today she's still having vomiting, diarrhea and not wanting to eat. She went without food for 12 hours and had no wet diapers so this morning we had to take her to the ER. They said she was not dehydrated enough for an IV (which was great news) but had nothing else for us. They gave her Reglan which is an anti vomiting and anti nausea drug, unfortunately it has side effects. Including neurological side effects so I don't want her on it for more than a few days. We left the ER with a prescription. That's all. I was hoping for answers to "why is my child vomiting, having diarrhea, doesn't want to eat, still has blood in her stool?" So I guess I will have to call the G.I. tomorrow and figure out what's going on. Prayers please! We need this girl to gain some weight.

Thank you Kris, I am. Nothing worse than a sick baby and feeling so helpless.
Oh Shelbie I am so sorry!! You're right, there is nothing worse than not being able to fix what is wrong with your baby. I sure hope you guys get some answers soon. I will be keeping Regan in my prayers. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
